How the Idea Originated

Born from Compassion, Built on Action

Safe Haven Homeless CIC was born after founder Dave Thomas and his wife witnessed the heartbreaking reality of homelessness in Carmarthen and Aberystwyth. From seeing families unable to access benefits due to a lack of a fixed address to witnessing people being evicted from tents, Dave realized that existing support was not enough.

With approximately 2,500 people homeless in Carmarthenshire every day, Safe Haven was created to provide what no one else is offering: a safe, permanent location with a comprehensive support package designed to break the cycle of homelessness and provide a real pathway to independence.

Our Core Mission

We provide a safe location with a varied support package to help those who are currently left unaided.

Through grant funding, we are purchasing a property with land to provide diverse accommodation and self-funding activities that ensure our mission continues long-term, moving beyond total reliance on grants.

  • 10 Bell Tents with log burning stoves for heat and cooking.
  • 24 Log Cabins (Bedsit style) with kitchenettes and bathrooms.
  • Residential Bedrooms in the main building.
  • Library, Dining Room, and Commercial Training Kitchen.
  • IT Computer Room and specialized Workshop for training.
  • Gymnasium, Poly Tunnel, and Greenhouse for horticulture.
  • 24/7 Manned Office for continuous support.
  • Caravan & Tent Camping site for visitor income.
  • Trout Fishing Lake and RSPCA Bird rescue aviaries.
  • Partnerships for on-site employment and work experience.
